We enter the  Training Center on February 5, 2018 for 2 weeks. We will be learning Humanitarian/Welfare principles and the does and don'ts in foreign countries the first week, then we will learn PMG for the next week and fly to Istanbul on Monday the 19th. Hope to be in Kyrgyzstan around the 22nd.

May 30th  -We were flying to Osh in Southern Kyrgyzstan. We got on the flight at 12:00 noon. It is a 1/2 hr flight, the turbulence was very bad on the way there. When we got to Osh, the plane kept going up and down, side ways and circling the city about 8 to 10 times. The the wind was blowing so hard that the pilot couldn't land. People were getting sick and asking for vomit bags. The stewardesses were keeping busy with people and messes, and trying to stay upright in the isles. People were scared we were going to crash! The pilot never announced anything to us, we just kept circling the city. We could see as we went down and then up again and as we circled around and around. We couldn't land, so the pilot headed back for Bishkek. On the way back about 10 minutes later the pilot came on and told us what happened. March 1-7

Thursday March 1 Non-eventful day. Volunteer Paul came down from Almaty, Kazakhstan for a visa run. We stayed with him most of the day in the apartment. We went and had lunch at a Burrito place(wasn't bad)  then sent Paul back to airport. Then came home and met Dr Bingham and his wife, who are our area AME, for dinner at Arzu restaurant.   Friday March 2 Friday was another shopping day as we needed to get some items for the apartment. So we went to a outside market to shop for articles and food. After that we went to an IKEA. It was the size of our living room but it had what we needed.  Saturday March 3 We met with Rick and Cyndi Johnson(Dammeron Valley) and Mark and Annette Myers(South Jordan). The Johnson's are in charge of the Wheel Chairs for LDS Charities in 7 countries. Rick is a retired PT. He specialized in pediatric PT and Annette is an active PT. Bishkek Kyrgyzstan Arrival first week Feb 24 -28

After a long journey through thick and thin we finally made it to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The Carter's were gracious enough to let us stay in the apartment and they went to a hotel for the remainder of their stay. They will leave on the 19th of March and travel with us to Zone Conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan and fly home from there. The were also kind enough to let us nap for several hours before beginning this journey. Day 1 Saturday Feb 24 We started with lunch at a quaint little restaurant and had of all things cheese steak sandwiches and fries. It was good. We than went on a sight seeing tour around Bishkek area where we live. It is downtown where there are many shops and several malls. The Bishkek White House is here as well as the Parliament building. There is a lot of War memorials and memorials for those that fought for freedom from Russian control. Just one block east from our apartment there is the Iranian Embassy.
